Training
Training is Communication!

Training your canine companion is one of the best things you can do for your pet. Not only does it help you and your pet bridge the dog-human communication gap, but it will ensure that you are spending time building a positive and permanent relationship with your dog. Positive reinforcement focused training is important for several reasons:

  • Positive Reinforcement Training creates an effective and understandable communication system with your dog.

  • Positive Reinforcement Training sets expectations and standards that both you and your dog can live with.

  • Positive Reinforcement Training builds your dog’s confidence and sharpens his decision-making skills (yours too!).

  • Positive Reinforcement Training can help prevent behavior problems from developing.

  • Positive Reinforcement Training can reinforce the relationship balance among everyone in the dog’s home group.

  • Positive Reinforcement Training creates a win-win situation. Your dog wins by earning the good things in life. You win by having a well-behaved and stable dog.

Purrfect Paws recommends that you do your homework before choosing a trainer to coach you and your dog through your training sessions. Not all trainers are created equal. Make sure that you choose a trainer or training facility that requires trainer continuing educational (learning theory, behavioral sciences) and experience.  We recommend a training philosophy that encourages positive reinforcement and working as a team with your dog. We firmly believe that no individual should have to learn through force-based or pain-inducing methods.

All lead instructors at Purrfect Paws have been certified as CPDT-KA since the following years:

Testimonials

Glenn Diamond (Marni) - I have been to may other trainings, playgroups and dog care groups. I have never been to one where the staff is so attentive to the dogs and their owners. I believe that if the staff at Purrfect Paws could do this for free, they would. I was so comfortable here. Other trainings I have felt mixtures of stress and nervousness. None of that was here. I looked forward to the classes and I think Marni loves being here for any types of event. I wish you guys did boarding as well. This will be my new center for both of my dogs! Thank you.

Amy Murdock (Sascha) - I had tried a couple places prior to finding Purrfect Paws. I had left after a few sessions. I found your facility to be the best! Your classes are well organized and managed to create a learning environment. You turned me onto positive reinforcement and training with treats. A philosophy I once didn’t appreciate. Everyone is helpful, knowledgeable and caring. Thank you so much for teaching Sascha, Dan and I soooooo much!
